The latest economic developments have caused investors to push out their rate expectations for all of the major central banks. In May, the ECB, BoC and RBA were all expected to raise rates before the end of the year and now aside from the ECB no one is expected to tighten. They say I’m cheap. They say I’m a miser. I’m a skinflint.

Whatever.

Let them hate.

I’m frugal and I’m proud. I have no problem spending money, to set the record straight. I just spent 10 days in Barcelona. You don’t do that if you don’t want to spend money. Trust me.

However, I HATE wasting money. And I hate spending more than I have to.

Coffee Break: Welcome rise in June home sales

Home sales in June rose 4.5 percent from June 2010, with 1,612 sales made, according to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors.

Existing home sales grew 5.8 percent from 2010. And total sales rose 16.1 percent from May (1,389).

The average sales price year-over-year dropped 3.2 percent to $124,294.

From January through June, sales fell 12.4 percentpared to the first half of 2010.

Inventory remained flat, with 8,554 units listed for sale. So far this year sales volume has declined 15.2 percent to $840.1 million.

“We’re seeing more activity, more sales,” MAAR president Leon Dickson said in a statement.

Former Cobb EMC chief re-indicted on theft, racketeering

Brown is alleged to have influenced and threatened witnesses, all of them Cobb EMC customers who sued the co-op in the 2007 for creating a for-profit business and siphoning co-op assets to it. After that case was settled, Brown and the EMC board filed a lawsuit against the customers and one of their attorneys seeking damages and attorneys’ fees.

“It certainly confirms our belief that when the EMC filed suit against my client, it was for the sole purpose of intimidation and precluding them from performing their role as representatives of the EMC,” said Pitts Carr, attorney for the suing customers.

The other 31 counts included in Thursday’s charges mirror those from the January indictment that accused Brown of stealing millions from the customer-owned cooperative and its customers, and of making false statements to customers in order to conceal the thefts.
