Options Trading Strategy

August 27th, 2011

Successful traders base their options trading strategy upon the results of their fundamental analysis and technical analysis of the options markets. The trader chooses which options exchange to trade options in and which underlying equity to use for options trading. Then the trader uses technical analysis tools such as Candlestick chart patterns to understand options volatility, trading volume, and underlying stock market trends or movement of commodities or futures. The trader chooses an options trading strategy based upon which direction he or she believes the value of the option will go, using a combination of buys and sells on puts and calls.

The price of equities underlying options contracts go up, go down, or stay the same. Read more…

How do you qualify for a portfolio loan?

August 25th, 2011

Qualifying for a portfolio loan is easier than qualifying for most standard loans. These loans do not need to meet the conforming standards of institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac since the lender does not intend to sell the loans. As a result, portfolio loans can be extended to borrowers with low down payments or low credit. This means that the loans are high risk. They will be expensive to obtain. The expense is worth the risk only if the borrower has reason to believe that he or she can easily repay the loan and will not qualify for a conforming loan.

July 26th, 2011

The two companies had talked for years, but it wasn’t until recently that things worked out between the Duluth technology company and the Alpharetta business that offers software, services, and restaurant and retail payment systems.

“I would be very disappointed if we didn’t build a $1 billion business together in the years to come,” NCR Chairman and CEO Bill Nuti said of the company with $400 million in revenue. “I wouldn’t have acquired it if I didn’t think we could.”

Radiant Systems started in a garage in New York 26 years ago, Chief Operating Officer Andy Heyman said, before moving to Georgia in 1990. It went public in 1997.

Economic fundamentals strong: PM

July 25th, 2011

Prime Minister Julia Gillard believes Australia’s underlying economic fundamentals are strong and ripe for reform despite unease in Europe and the US.

Ms Gillard was in Sydney on Monday to continue her hard sell of the government’s carbon price scheme against the backdrop of plummeting voter support and an uncertain global economy.

“There are European nations still struggling with big debt and high unemployment, and there is some nervousness in the American economy as well,” she told reporters.

“But when we look at Australia’s economy, we are in the part of the world that is continuing to grow strongly.”

There was underlying strength in the economy, Ms Gillard said, pointing to $430 billion of investment in the resources sector alone, along with a low unemployment rate and a strong budget position.

“We have those strong underlying fundamentals today because governments in the past have had the courage to step up with the big reforms that the nation needed,” she said.

Floating the dollar, reducing tariffs and introducing superannuation were not popular and were bitterly contested at the time.

“But we standing here in a strong and resilient economy because of those earlier waves of reform,” Ms Gillard said. Read more…
