He may have just been crowned as a Super Bowl champion and MPV, but New Orleans Saints’ Quarterback Drew Brees knows there are important lessons to be learned off the field about protecting your credit score.

Brees led the Saints to a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Miami on February 7. Winning a Super Bowl ring may have been the biggest day in his sporting life, but Brees has teamed with Visa over the past four years to teach students about financial literacy. Taking Visa’s NFL-themed Financial Football interactive game into the classroom has made an impact teaching students important financial lessons.

When looking at some recent financial data, it appears that more Americans are shunning debt.

Credit Card Debt Declines

Outstanding consumer debt has fallen over the past year, most recently at $1.59 trillion in November, according to data from the Federal Reserve. Revolving debt, which is mostly credit card debt, was $874 billion. 

Personal Savings Rate
